The Podiatrist- April Jackson

April dropped everything and left her Sydney practice @gladesvillepodiatry to come along and look after my feet.
A huge undertaking and I am forever grateful that she did.

Her skills and knowledge proved extremely valuable.
Helping to not only preserve my feet, but taping my crook ankle and shin when required.
Her no nonsense and take no bullshit attitude made her the perfect addition to our team.

380kms in 4 days - 4 hours and 44 minutes was always going to be tough on the feet - but due to Aprils skills and the best socks in the biz @creeperssocks
I only had one blister for the entire trip.

Day 5 - Mum and I 🩵

42.2 km together to the finish
Gunbower - Echuca

Mum tore her calf half way into town and my ankle was fatter than an electricians wallet.

But stopping was never an option - never discussed or considered - we had a job to finish.

We were running for more than just us.

Community support pushed us all the way in to town 🔥🔥

Meet the 444 Crew

Videographer Extraordinaire - Kate Newlyn

Kate and I had never properly met prior to the 444 run.
Even though it turns out we are next door neighbours.

I had seen some of her previous work and when she offered her services for the run. I couldn’t say yes quick enough.

Her initial reel was pivotal in sharing the run with a broad audience and providing huge awareness for the cause.
465,000 views.

So much time and effort put in before - during and post run.

Unbelievably talented and skilled - her reels during the run became a must see show each night.

Not only a talented videographer / photographer but also a motivator from the back of the ute and also a running partner when she could see me battling on the road.

Don’t think it would have been the same without you in the crew. So Thank You @katenewlyn

Meet the 444 Team - Dale Reyne

The Nutritionist - “Ollie”

Ollie didn’t miss a single km out on the road - all 380kms riding beside me or running and staying on top of the nutrition plan designed by @johannaclarknaturopathy
Keeping track of every km - electrolyte - carb and litre of water.
Even pumping out his very own first marathon 💪🏻.
This bloke has been through it all with me - the lead up training - the highs and lows.
Plenty of early starts and a few pink iced donuts also.

Not to mention that he has lost 24kgs since we started training for the 444 run.

Never been more proud of anyone to see what he has achieved in the last 12 months.
A bloody top bloke and even better mate.

Chooka - The Man with the magic hands.
I have said it more than once, but without Chooka I don’t even get to the start line.
The absolute key to keeping me on the road - not only during the run - but throughout the entire lead up.
I will be forever indebted to him for getting me through.

Not only a star in his trade - a bloody top bloke and a great mate.

From the start I said - all that we wanted to do was help as many kids as possible in our region. And listening to Matt and Jayden speak Friday night. We certainly will.

Meet the 444 Team - Suzie Shearer

Every good team needs a leader.
And for us that was Suz !
When this run first hit the ground ,
I tried to take on every role by myself.
I soon worked out that was a bit too much to handle.
Suzie came along and taught me more in 3 months than I could have learnt in 3 year’s.
The captain of the ship undertaking multiple roles, all with no fuss.
Not only did she coordinate every discussion with the 3 Headpsace centres - she also handled every media release, radio interview and newspaper article along the way.
Chasing up permits - insurances and sponsors.
And allowing me time to just train.
I thought I could squeeze a lot into one day - but Suzie showed me a whole new level of what is achievable.

Suzie thank you for your passion , tireless work and positive attitude always.

You are a superstar 🤍

I’m not sure what these legends pulled me up for.

But it definitely wasn’t speeding……

It was great to have a short walk and chat with these 2 officers between Kerang and Cohuna - they were top fellas and offered some great encouragement.

Day Zero

We Met with Teresa and the team @headspacemildura just before take off last week.
Was great to see the facilities and learn more about how the centres operate and help the children in our region.
Thank you to the members from Mildura Hospital who also attended to wish us well.
And to Wendy who ran the first 5km with me Monday 💪🏻

Didn’t mind those 444 cupcakes either 🔥

I can see the pain in my own eyes ….

But pain is only there to remind us that we are still alive ….

I was never going to stop - never under any circumstances.

12 months ago I had never ran a marathon. Not 1.
I had 1 half marathon to my name and that was it.

Never ever underestimate what you are capable of.
Because we are all capable of so much more 💪🏻
